Floating Spaces: Henrik Larsen

Floating Spaces for vibraphone and computer: the sheer joy of the beauty of the sound of the vibraphone, and this in interaction with the sound capabilities of the computer! Misty, floating landscapes are conjured up consisting of crystalline order and calm gaseous envelopment, interrupted by fragments of twirling chaotic tension.

The virtuoso Danish percussionist Henrik Larsen premiered René Mogensen’s work Floating Spaces in the CRUSH festival for new music in Aarhus, Denmark back in November 2008. The recording has just now been released on Wassard Elea‘s RM New Classical and is accessible on most streaming services. The interactive computer part is integral to the score of Floating Spaces, where the vibraphone sound is sampled and processed creating an instrumental-acousmatic form that ‘breathes’ with the performer.
